Top 5 Tile Trends for 2019

Coventry Homes’ Interior Designer, McKenzie Campbell, took us through the top five tile trends we can expect to see more of in 2019. Let’s take a look:

• Tiled Feature Wall – These trendy accent walls are popping up in all parts of the home. We are seeing floor to ceiling tile application more and more, along with statement pieces, such as intricate backsplash detailing. Looking for maximize your dollar? Consider a tile wall in a half bathroom – it’s a small space and a great place to play with color and texture!

• Subway Tile – Subway tile is a timeless selection when it comes to your kitchen or ensuite. Its versatility transcends style boundaries, allowing it to seamlessly go from traditional to contemporary. You can stack or stagger it both horizontal and vertical directions, and now in different lengths, widths, and a newly emerging beveled option, there’s a subway tile to beautifully complement any design. We are loving the horizontal stack right now for a modern nod.

• Fully-Tiled Shower – Included in our Pinnacle Home Specifications, a fully-tiled ensuite shower is a must-have for so many reasons. First and foremost, the look! It provides more aesthetic interest than its fiberglass friend. Tile is easy to clean and long lasting. Plus, a fully-tiled shower gives your home additional resale value for the future. Consider a 12” x 24” tile for a quiet look to add ambiance to your spa-like retreat.

• Marble Inspired Tile – 2019 will see more use of marble inspired tile. It brings a feeling of luxury without the added expense of true marble. Produced in a variety of shapes and sizes, it can be applied anywhere from backsplashes and fireplaces to floors. Similar to subway tile, it can also be dressed up or down to suite your space. Slight variations in the tile offer darker tones or hints of gold and can guide your look towards contemporary, modern or traditional. Expect to see some hints of gold marble tile in one of our upcoming 2019 showhomes.

• Fireplace Detailing – Tile far exceeds just the kitchen and bathroom. An increasing number of clients are choosing to add decorative tiling to their fireplace. We expect to see more use of geometric patterns and hexagon tile; depending on your tile and grout selection you can get a bright & busy pattern or a subtle nod to the modern side. Brick look, specifically matte white (a la Joanna Gaines) is in high demand right now, with black accents and wood tones providing contrast.
